Hard work pays off

Cross country craziness

On Thursday, September 29, cross country traveled to St. John’s prep from their homecoming week meet. Junior Nick Lind expressed how happy he was he got a time of 18.5 and sixth place on Thursday, ” It is relieving once you cross the finish line feeling accomplished,” Lind said. Lind feels proud of himself for all his hard work he has put into cross country this season from running in his free time to pushing himself extra in practice. “It feels like the hard work pays off,” Lind said.

Junior Makenna Wetch said, “My favorite part of my day is being able to be with my friends while also staying in shape.” She sees cross country as more of an activity than a sport.  On the Thursday meet, she finished with a time of 27.55 making her in 39th place.

Eighth grader Maddie Austin loves to run in her free time. “I’m in cross country to get in shape for my other sports,” Austin said. Maddie ran a 25.43 for the St. John’s race. “This was my favorite course because you’re in the woods most of the time,” Austin said.

As the season winds down, the crazy amount of running starts to pay off for the team. With only one regular meet left in Royalton, the team will then compete in the conference tournament and then sections to end the season.
