Focusing on improving whether that is a skill or an attitude, the gymnastics team works towards a perfect ten. “The team has improved a lot, because we’ve worked on our attitude and motivation. Gymnastics is very competitive, and it pushes us to improve even more,” said junior Addison Kramer. Gymnastics is an individual and team sport, you compete for yourself but everyone’s score gets added up at the end. The team was able to secure the win in their home tournament, Tumble in the Jungle, by 8 points.
Along with winning, athletes also enjoy the comradery of their fellow competitors. “The best part of being on this team is if you’re having a tough time, everyone is always there to cheer you up,” said junior Ashley Gaffaney.
Performing at one’s full ability can be difficult in any sport, but they can also inspire others. “I joined gymnastics after watching the Olympics,” said senior Joanna Hall. Gymnastics can also seem to take a toll on the body. “The hardest part about this sport is all the possibilities for injuries because I have a weak ankle,” said Hall.
Even if sometimes difficult experiences happen, like an injury, athletes still enjoy the challenge and the community that the team creates together.
