Protecting the ball against the Holdingford Huskers, eighth grader Emily Kunkel works to pass the ball to her teammate despite the challenges in the way. “The girls were a lot bigger,” said Kunkel, “and they were a lot taller, and some of them were really fast.” This teamwork helped to keep the Maple Lake junior high basketball teams’ heads above water in terms of points.
