Wrestling Wrap-up

“Thunder is good, thunder is impressive, but it is lightning that does the work,” said Mark Twain. The Annandale/Maple Lake wrestling team, also known as the Lightning, are preparing for their last match on February 10. “I run through the match in my head and mentally get ready,” said senior Zach Pribyl, who is ranked sixth in his weight class. 

The Lightning are ranked twelfth in the state, out of 55, and have won 22 out of their 30 total matches. “We have learned good work ethic, discipline and we have to be willing to correct our mistakes,” said sophomore Nathan Zander. 

During the four month season, the team has to get along and become a second family in order to succeed.  “Our team goes out to eat, when we can, and we listen to music to get ourselves pumped up before we go out to the mat,” said sophomore Shay McClory. 

Anticipation hangs in the air as the Lightning anxiously await for February 10 to arrive. Can you feel the storm coming?
