Don’t Look Back

2020 volleyball season motto, and a great reminder for today’s world

In a year full of uncertainties, athletes worked hard to stay healthy and able to compete, and the volleyball team did just that. With teammates being pulled out to quarantine, or opponents cancelling games while in quarantine, staying positive was a must. “Leaning on each other, sticking together, and staying thankful for all the opportunities we got to play were some of the reasons we stayed positive,” said Junior Kinlee Knutson.

Practicing many positions and playing every practice, point, and match like it was their last one was the key to the hard work, drive, and success throughout the shortened season. “One of our biggest strengths was our ability to play well together with any line up,” said Junior Kendra Jude. Having strengths like this helped the girls get through their ever changing schedule.

With games being cancelled, postponed, and rescheduled no excuses were given ending with a record of 11-1 on the season, and 9-0 in the conference. “Out of all our games my favorite has to be our last game against Hutchinson. We didn’t have our whole team. But, the intensity and energy that game brought was crazy,” said Junior Emma Jude. The Hutchinson game went to 5 sets and ended in a thrilling Irish win! The season fight ended sooner than expected and hoped but ended with great success and memories.
