Sprinting into the Season

Total Track Takeover

With the idea of practice makes perfect, the girls track team starts off their 2019 season with practice and two track meets over spring break.

With the new track season beginning, excitement fills many new and also former athletes.” I am excited to see how we do as a team this year. Many seniors graduated last year so we have many new people, especially sprinters, running this year! I am excited to see what we can do as a team.” said Senior Ava Mergen.

Along with sprints runners also participate in hurdles. Freshman Kylie Edmonson runs the 100 hurdles and she placed second at the meet in Monticello. “I am very excited to see how far I get this season and how much I improve on all of my events,” said Edmonson.

Track also includes field events. One of the biggest field events is shot and discus. Starting her year off great, Senior Brianna Deringer took first at their first meet at Saint Cloud State. “My goal for this track season is to have our girls track team take first at True Team for a second year in a row. Another goal I have is to make it to state this year for shot and discus,” said Deringer.

With daily practices and many more good meets to come, the girls track team is on the road to a true team takeover.
