Gymnastics season gets started

Flipping through the first meet for gymnastics on friday, November 30, the varsity team had a good start to the season. It’s easy to understand why senior Gracie Elsenpeter was a seven on a scale of one to ten for how nervous she was for the first meet. “I was nervous because we didn’t get a lot of practice in and we were just getting started in routines. I was most nervous for floor and beam,” said Elsenpeter. Elsenpeter got a 9.1 on vault, which was her best event at Friday’s meet.

Starting off a season is always hard, especially for gymnastics. “Regaining my strength back to perform my events is the most difficult thing about the season,” said Senior Susie Rieber. Rieber’s best event for the meet was bars, her score was 7.5. With the season starting, everyone has been conditioning and practicing like crazy in order to prepare for the season ahead of them.

With a lot of new faces on the varsity team, the youngest is seventh grader Kelsey Jude. “It’s a great feeling being on varsity because I worked so hard,” said Jude. It’s obvious the whole varsity team worked hard on Friday, scoring a 127 and beating Dassel Cokato by two points.
